Lars van Berkel of the Husqvarna SKS Racing NL team finished seventh in the first round of the Dutch Masters of Motocross at Oss. Surrounded by some top GP riders, Van Berkel finished ninth and seventh in the heats respectively.
Van Berkel started off well with the fastest time during the free training session. “I felt better lap by lap,” he said. ‘’I finally qualified 8th, and was happy with that in the company of GP riders.’’
Lars leaped into an initial tenth spot in race one. He improved to 8th, but lost a spot towards the end to finish ninth.
“I again got a top ten start in Race two. I passed a few riders and got to sixth. I felt on top of things, but stalled my bike four laps from the end, dropping to 8th. I repassed Yentl Martens near the end to finish seventh. “
With seventh overall for the day, Lars was quite happy. “The bikes are perfect, the suspension is good, and I’m entirely happy with the team.”
Boyd van der Voorn and Rick Wennekes flew the team flag in the 250 class. Wennekes had some trouble on Saturday, and just missed qualifying. Boyd clocked the 16th qualifying time. After a steady ride, he finished 14th in the first race, but an early crash and some mistakes kept him out of the points in the second. He finished 22nd for the day.
Danny van den Bosse lined up for action in the 85cc class. He qualified 13th. He battled to find his rhythm in race 1, and had to be content with 13th. In the second race he did much better, advancing from 15th position to tenth.
The next round of the Dutch Masters of Motocross will be held in Axel on the 5th of May.
